RSA throws support behind open letter addressing Religious Discrimination Bill

Si Gladman / 25 November 2021

The Rationalist Society of Australia is among more than 250 community groups that have signed an open letter calling on the Prime Minister to deliver fair discrimination laws that protect all people in the community equally.

The letter, signed by business, union, LGBTIQ, human rights, women’s groups and others, has been published in The Age and Sydney Morning Herald.

RSA president Meredith Doig (pictured) said that, importantly, the open letter recognised the need for the Religious Discrimination Bill to treat non-religious Australians equally.

Read the open letter here on Equality Australia’s website.

“We support fair and equal discrimination laws which protect all of us, including people of faith and those who are not religious, equally alongside other groups,” the open letter says.

“Unless the Religious Discrimination Bill protects all of us, equally, we cannot support it.”
